Elevator Arts are delighted to welcome Eleanore McCann & Michelle Barrington to its board as Non-Executive Directors. Ellie & Michelle will be supporting Elevator Arts in its goal to deliver outstanding, socially engaged arts & performance projects for young people in Southend.

Ellie & Michelle are Founders and Artistic Directors of trailblazing, Essex theatre company Blown Fuse Theatre. Their practice at Blown Fuse is born out of work with Essex communities - collecting real life stories to create relatable, authentic theatre that encourages access & engagement in the arts in deprived communities. Their current project, In Her Shoes is a digital performance celebrating womxn whose connection with Thurrock’s heritage has shaped their lives. Including experiences from the Windrush generation, families living and working on the BATA estate and nurses working frontline in the Second World War.

Ellie is also currently the Project Manager for the Community Programme at the Royal Opera House (Thurrock), overseeing the development of the ROH Thurrock Community Chorus and ROH Thurrock Volunteer Programme.

Michelle also teaches drama and performing arts with local Essex theatre schools and companies, working with children aged 4-14 as well as adults and teenagers with additional needs providing theatre workshops and directing shows.

“We’re extremely excited to be on the board of Elevator Arts and we’re keen to continue our work enhancing the lives of young people through the arts alongside the team.”

And we can’t wait to get started! Watch this space for news on current projects coming soon…
