Assistant Creative Workshop Facilitator

We are looking for an energetic freelance Assistant Creative Workshop Facilitator to support delivery of our project Sound ON over the summer school holidays, with children aged 6 years upwards who are experiencing homelessness.

Sound ON provides regular creative activity that aims to improve mental health & wellbeing plus communication & social skills for children and  young people experiencing homelessness.  Sound ON is for children aged 6 upwards who are living in South Essex Homes’ temporary accommodation for families.

The Assistant Workshop Facilitator will support the project team in delivering high-quality creative sessions within Chaucer House. This role is integral to ensuring a supportive, engaging, and inclusive environment for participants while maintaining the project's artistic and educational goals.

Sound ON is supported through funding from The National Lottery Community Fund.

    5x sessions at 4:30pm-6pm on

    • Wednesday 29 July 

    • Wednesday 5 August 

    • Wednesday 12 August 

    • Wednesday 19 August 

    • Wednesday 26 August 

    Final evaluation Aug - Sept

  • Sessions will take place at:

    Chaucer House, Chestnut Grove, Southend On Sea, Essex, SS2 5HG

  • Session delivery incl. planning & prep - 

    (£35 per hour x 1.5 hours)x 5 sessions = £262.50

    Plus

    4 hrs additional meeting time @ £18 per hr = £72

    Total fee: £334.50

  • Essential:

    • Experience of assisting and/or leading delivery of arts and/or drama workshops with children and young people.

    • Knowledge and experience of implementing Child Protection & Safeguarding policies and procedures.

    Desirable:

    • Experience of working on creative projects that support mental health & wellbeing.

    • Experience of working with children experiencing homelessness and/or multiple barriers to social inclusion.

    • Experience of working across art forms such as spoken word, storytelling, devising, physical theatre, visual arts and crafts.

    • In receipt of recent Child Protection and Safeguarding training.

    • Support the Lead Facilitator to deliver a high-quality creative project.

    •  Adopt a young people-centred approach, responding to the individual and collective needs of participants.

    • Collaborate with the Creative Team during project planning and delivery.

    • Attend meetings with Elevator Arts and project partners as required.

    • Assist with workshop delivery, including preparing materials, engaging participants, and resolving technical issues.

    • Follow health and safety procedures and risk assessments to maintain a safe working environment.

    • Contribute to project evaluation through feedback collection, reflection, and reporting.

    • Adhere to Elevator Arts’ Safeguarding and Child Protection policies, ensuring the welfare and safety of all participants.
