Sound ON: Expression Through Creativity

We were thrilled to continue our weekly Sound ON sessions throughout the summer holidays this year, with EXPRESSION as our theme.

Over five weeks, the young people explored different ways of expressing themselves as they worked towards creating their very own Tunnel Books. Each young person brought their own interpretation of a “Safe Space” to life, using their creativity and imagination to create something completely unique.

As the weeks went by, their individual creations came together to form a wonderful collection: a celebration of their different ideas, perspectives and creative voices.

It’s been fantastic to make the most of both our indoor and outdoor spaces during the summer sessions. From team games and connecting with nature to exploring creative activities and learning new ways to express themselves, every session offered something different.

One of the highlights has been seeing how inspired the young people have become. Some have even gone away and started working on their own creative projects, bringing them back to share with the rest of the group. Throughout the summer, they’ve experimented, made, created and discovered new ways to express themselves, and it’s been brilliant to see the pride they have in everything they’ve achieved.

A huge thank you to our brilliant creative team, TriggerBliss, Kelly Kennedy and Avril Hockett, for delivering such fun, inspiring and imaginative sessions, and to South Essex Homes for partnering with us to bring these creative opportunities to children living in temporary accommodation.

Here’s to creativity, expression and giving young people the space to imagine, explore and be themselves!
