Join Our Founding Board of Trustees

Trustee Opportunities (including Treasurer)

Are you passionate about improving the lives of children and young people?

Do you believe in the power of creativity, self-expression and the arts to support mental health and wellbeing?

Elevator Arts is seeking committed and enthusiastic individuals to join our founding Board of Trustees as we embark on an exciting new chapter in our journey.

We are currently exploring the transition from a Community Interest Company (CIC) to a registered charity and are looking for trustees who can help shape our future and support our continued growth.

  • We welcome applications from people with a range of backgrounds, experiences and perspectives.

We are particularly interested in hearing from individuals with experience in:

    • Finance and accounting (Treasurer role)

    • Fundraising and philanthropy

    • Education or youth services

    • Arts and culture

    • Legal and governance

    • Marketing and communications

    • Business development and corporate partnerships

Previous trustee experience is not essential. We are keen to hear from people who share our values and are committed to helping young people thrive.

We are especially keen to hear from people who are currently underrepresented in charity governance, including younger trustees, people from ethnically diverse backgrounds, disabled people and those with lived experience of the communities we serve.

  • We are particularly seeking a Treasurer to help oversee the financial governance of the organisation.

The Treasurer will support the Board by providing financial oversight, helping trustees understand financial information, and contributing to the long-term sustainability of Elevator Arts.

Experience in finance, accounting, financial management or related fields would be highly desirable

  • Trustees provide strategic oversight and governance for the organisation. They help ensure Elevator Arts remains financially sustainable, legally compliant and focused on achieving its mission.

Trustees do not manage day-to-day operations but work alongside the CEO and leadership team to support the organisation's long-term success.

    • Approximately 4 board meetings per year

    • Occasional additional meetings or strategic discussions

    • Preparation time for meetings

All trustee roles are voluntary, although reasonable expenses may be reimbursed.

  • This is an opportunity to:

    • Make a meaningful difference to the lives of children and young people

    • Help shape the future of a growing organisation

    • Use your skills and experience to create positive social impact

    • Gain valuable charity governance experience

    • Join a passionate and creative team committed to inclusion and opportunity

  • We are committed to building a diverse Board that reflects the communities we serve in south Essex and actively encourage applications from people from all backgrounds and experiences.

We would love to have an informal conversation about the role.

Please contact alison@elevatorarts.co.uk to arrange an initial discussion.
